Town: Broughton



Information: Broughton is a village in Upper Tweeddale in the west of the Scottish Borders, situated in the rolling hills of the district. Best known for its famous author John Buchan. The John Buchan Centre is a museum dedicated to his life, housed in the former church at the south of the village where his relatives regularly worshipped. Broughton Place is also found in Broughton - a house built in the style of a 17th century Scottish tower house which was designed by Basil Spence in the 1930s. The ground floor is now an art gallery. Broughton Brewery produces many popular beers including 'Merlin' and 'Black Douglas'.
